The registration period for “Scheme $6,000” is 28 August 2011 to 31 December 2012.  Persons who meet the eligibility criteria may register for the Scheme during this period with regard to their individual circumstances. They do not need to queue for submitting the forms in person irrespective of the registration platform they choose.

 

Each eligible person can only register for the Scheme once.

 

There are two stages in the registration period. Stage 1 runs from 28 August 2011 to 31 March 2012 (both dates inclusive) and Stage 2 from 1 April to 31 December 2012 (both dates inclusive).

Persons who meet the eligibility criteria on 28 August 2011

For those who opt to receive $6,000, they may register by batches according to the following schedule –

  • Registration by batches closes on 5 November 2011. 

 

  • Eligible persons who have not registered during the batching period from 28 August 2011 to 5 November 2011, regardless of their year of birth, may register for the Scheme on or before 31 March 2012 for payment of $6,000.

 

  • Registrants confirmed to have met the eligibility criteria will normally receive $6,000 in around 10 to 12 weeks after registration (depending on whether the registration is made through banks or the Hongkong Post).

 

  • Eligible persons should register by batches according to their year of birth as set out in the above timetable.  Even if a registrant submits registration form at an earlier time, his/her registration will still be processed according to the above timetable.  In other words, early registration does not mean early payment.

 

Persons who do not meet the eligibility criteria on 28 August 2011 but will do so on
31 March 2012

 

These eligible persons may submit registration forms on or before 31 December 2012

 

The registration forms submitted by these eligible persons will be processed starting from
1 April 2012.  

 

The option of receiving $6,000 plus a bonus of $200 is not applicable to these eligible persons.

 


Stage 2 of the registration period – 1 April to 31 December 2012 (both dates inclusive)


During the period from 1 to 14 April 2012, priority will be given to the processing of registration forms submitted by persons born in 1946 or before. Even if a person born in 1947 or after submits registration form during the aforesaid period, his/her registration will still be processed at a later time. Early registration does not mean early payment.
